FAS Spaces
About the Project
FAS Spaces is a platform designed to manage, optimize, and visualize all spaces and assets within FAS, including offices, conference rooms, classrooms, labs, and common areas. Key features include assigning occupants to units, modifying usage types, controlling unit capacity, and tracking furniture, equipment, and IT resources. Utilizing CAD floor plans, the system generates detailed, interactive 2D indoor maps to streamline asset management, maintenance, and operations planning.
This is the first system at AUB to integrate space management, asset tracking, and emergency readiness into a single, user-friendly platform. By monitoring occupancy and space usage, it allows the Dean’s Office, FAS Space Managers, and the Office of Information Technology to make informed decisions about allocation and utilization.
Real-time indoor maps also enhance situational awareness during emergencies, enabling efficient responses and ensuring occupant safety, as demonstrated by the recent preparation of the Chemistry Building shelter.
