FAS Indoors

FAS Indoors is a spatial management platform built to integrate the documentation, visualization, and operational oversight of all spaces and assets within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at AUB. The platform ingests CAD floor plans to generate detailed, interactive 2D indoor maps covering offices, conference rooms, classrooms, laboratories, and common areas across FAS facilities. These maps serve as the spatial foundation for a unified system that connects physical space data with occupancy records, usage classifications, capacity parameters, and asset inventories within a single interface.

The platform's asset tracking layer covers furniture, equipment, and IT resources, each linked to the unit and space it occupies. Occupant assignments, usage type modifications, and capacity controls can be managed directly within the platform, allowing space managers to maintain an accurate and current record of how FAS facilities are configured and utilized. This integration of space management and asset tracking within a georeferenced indoor mapping environment makes FAS Indoors the first system at AUB to consolidate these functions into a single operational platform.

The platform serves three primary institutional users: the Dean's Office, FAS Space Managers, and the Office of Information Technology. For each, it provides a shared spatial record that supports evidence-based decision-making around space allocation, utilization planning, and resource management. The real-time indoor maps extend the platform's utility into emergency readiness, enabling efficient situational awareness and coordinated response during critical events, as demonstrated in the recent preparation of the Chemistry Building shelter for occupant safety.
