Data Visualization
at the Intersection of
Time and Space

We locate diverse sets of data in both time and geographic space in order to create insightful and accessible web experiences.

About Us

The Inclusive Cloud Innovation Lab (ICIL) was launched with the support of a Ford Foundation grant (awarded to the Faculty of Arts and Sciences) as well as an initial collaboration with the Data & Visualization Services at Rice University's Center for Research Computing. ICIL has since brought together scholars, designers, and developers in order to transform diverse archives and live data streams into geo-temporal platforms anyone can explore. In sum, our objective is to visualize data at the intersection of time and space.

Mission

To locate diverse sets of data in both time and geographic space, turning complex records into insightful, accessible web experiences that empower research, teaching, and public understanding.

Vision

A world where the layered histories of places are never lost, where every map, timeline, and dataset becomes a shared window into how our environments and communities evolve.

Approach

We work at the intersection of scholarship, design, and geospatial engineering, building platforms that make rigorous data feel intuitive to explore.
